Core Pillars To Invest In For Recurring Revenue Growth

Have foundational thinking. Take the time to invest in four foundations. The first foundation should be some type of real estate. Even if you don’t have money to invest in real estate you can start learning about it now. Your time in learning about cash flow, positive real estate is an investment. That’s a pillar. Everybody in this country should have some investment in real estate and there are other ways to do it. I know people who rent out properties and then they Airbnb them and they’re making seven figures a year doing that. You don’t have to have money to get into the real estate game.

The second pillar in the foundation that I tell people about is that you should learn about the stock market and have some money in the markets. Compound interest. It’s brilliant. That’s how Warren Buffett is one of the richest men in the world. Compound interest. He invests, he holds, he understands the stock market, fantastic.

The third area which is where we come in is I think everybody now should have an e-commerce business. Real estate is through the roof right now as we’re recording this and you know almost in august of 2021 real estate’s through the roof at the highest it’s ever been in the united states and likely worldwide. But doesn’t mean that you can’t start looking at these other pillars and this is the reason for this for foundation thinking. So you have your e-commerce business which still costs the same that it costs to start an e-commerce business as it did five or ten years ago. To buy a property now is going to cost you a lot more than it did five or ten years ago. So maybe we’re going to learn about real estate.

Let that cool off and in the meanwhile focus on some of these other areas. So starting an amazon business empowers you to start a company, start a storefront, start building out a brand which is what we teach. We don’t teach arbitrage or going out there and buying cheap stuff at Costco and reselling it.

We teach you how to build your own product using what the market needs and then coming out there and building that as real estate and the fourth pillar is going to be your job or your career whatever you do to feed your family, to keep pampers on your kid, to make sure that you know the wife gets to go out to dinner and you know do all the great stuff that you do or the husband goes out to dinner however you want to look at that.

But having these foundations leads you to never having a bad day because when I wake up in the morning, I go oh real estate’s really really high that’s great but the stock market’s down. I’m not bummed about it. I’ve got these other pillars and this is how you build a solid foundation that you can move forward on.

Yeah, distribution first is a key. One that we talked about. We had great distribution with vape here. The other one was if you can help it don’t take investors. So that was another important lesson that was learned. I think those two are are kind of essential ones and the third one is I had great advice and counsel during the vapir times because I had all kinds of industry experts that came in and helped me with that technology. People really in you know stoners in general wheat heads are like fanatic. They love it. They love you know they they really like are like a community and kind not the most motivated of people back in the day you know. I think now you know with cbd and all the stuff that’s going on the money is there so you get a lot more motivated. People but back then you know stoners weren’t very motivated but they were very kind and very generous and giving with their time and learnings as far as what we were building goes. So it really helps a lot to bring in mentors and people who can help you on that journey.

What you do is you research markets, you research distribution and you create a product to feed into the distribution. So the first thing I’m gonna tell you and this is a little contradictory to what some people say. The first thing that I’ll tell you is that somebody told me once that if you do what you love you’ll never work a day in your life. That doesn’t mean you won’t wake up and go to a job.

It just means that because you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like work and so the first key is picking something that you don’t hate. Now for a lot of younger people who are just kind of building themselves up in life you might have to do some things that you hate until you can do what you love and that’s okay.

So first and foremost the second thing that I will share with you that’s been very helpful to me and I think probably could be helpful to your listeners as well is that we are all humans. One of my mentors told me that behind every deal is always a human being. Everything that you see around you was sold to one human from another human at some point in time. So what does that mean?

That means that we have to recognize that we too are humans and we are fallible. So for example you know what food is good for you but if you keep junk food in the house at a certain point you’re gonna just grab for that thing. That’s not so good for you. Why?

Because you’re just human, you’re vulnerable. So the more intelligent person, the sneaky player would say I’m not going to put the food that I don’t want to eat close to me or in the house. Even I’m not even going to buy it because I know my vulnerabilities. Now that is a person that’s really realized.

Now knowing this information what you have to know is that our brains, our neurochemistry works on feedback loops so it’s like a circle. Now if we are constantly putting input into this machine and there’s no output coming out we are going to move to something that’s giving us greater output or some output at all right?

If we keep banging on a rock right our steel wall and no one’s answering we just keep at some point we’re gonna stop banging right? But if we bang and someone says hello and we bang and bang and someone says yes and we bang and bang and the door opens a little bit we’re gonna keep banging harder and harder until that door opens.

You can’t start with a product or a business that’s gonna feel to you like a steel wall. You need to go for low-hanging fruit, something that’s a little bit easier. Why? Because it’s gonna constantly be bringing feedback to you. So it’s gonna close that loop for you and open up the opportunity for you to start taking harder and harder challenges and that’s really the trick to this is that you need to find something that will feed your feedback loop and you can close that loop.

So you put a certain amount of input in you get a certain amount of output out and that loop continues because if we keep banging against the wall with no hope of ever getting breaking through it we’re going to quit and go on to something else.

That’s why people move on to drugs. You see people that they’re using drugs and you’re like man your life was pretty bad as it was. Why would you add the complication of becoming a drug addict like why would you do that? Well, the answer is easy because it closes the feedback loop. You know you put the drugs in. You get a feeling out. It’s giving you something, whereas the alternative might be hard. You might go out there to start a company, you might go out there you know to chase that beautiful you know spouse female that you’re you know going after and she might not respond to you and the rejection of that might be so hard.

So I think you know I was ahead of my time at that age and I think it felt like the world wasn’t ready for me in the state that I came in so I needed to have a major life disruption and I went out there and I sought mentors. You can hire people and that’s what I did. I picked up the phone. The first phone call I made was to Andrew Wilde, the great naturopath, the guy who wrote all the textbooks, who’s like now you know he’s got a TV show. He’s got books you know keynote speaker whatever and I said, hey I want to make this herbal version of ecstasy. Can you help me and he said yeah sure and he gave me contacts and told me about herbs and then I went down to Chinatown. I found some herbalists and I said, hey I don’t have any money but I know herbs don’t cost very much. Can you front me some herbs? They said, sure and you know everything started coming together so that’s knowledge. I borrowed it, I rented it, I bought it whatever to figure out what I’m doing. I knew nothing about doing that stuff. I was just making it up as I went along and we tried so many different formulas. It started off as like five bags of like these round goo balls like gumballs that you had to like pop down and it worked. I mean got you really high but it tasted nasty and most people got a stomach ache and then we finally got it down and we got rid of the stomach ache and we got it into capsules and you had to eat 20 capsules and then finally after a couple of years we got it down to five small pills and you could choose – you could take one or you could choose five depending on where you wanted to be in life and so that’s knowledge, right?

But when you have the knowledge that gives you the courage. If we don’t know stuff then it’s hard for us to move in life. If you don’t know what you’re gonna do when the client says yes you’re like holy, but if you know you’re going to walk up to that door in your business in the real estate business and you say hey I can get you top dollar for this house and they say yes and you’re like great. This is what I’m going to do. I’m going to list it on the MLS. I’m going to advertise in this. I’m going to make it a pocket list. You’ve got that knowledge that gives you courage, that gives you balls, that gives you cajones, right?

That’s what you need and all that knowledge and that courage give you the ability to do the third thing – to jump off that ledge with a parachute to take action and that third element of action. Nothing is possible without it so you have to take the action and that’s what I did. I got the knowledge that gave me the courage to move forward to walk into a club and approach a relatively dangerous human being – somebody who’s dealing illicit narcotics for a living and probably has been to jail and had face tattoos. Before face tattoos were cool and walk up to the dude and are like, hey man take a risk on me. This little you know shit-faced lawn care kid that’s gonna you know change history.
