The supply would usually run out around 11 o’clock and you’d see all the grumpy ass people walking around looking for anything to buy and I walked up to a drug dealer and you know, like reached down in my pants grabbed my balls, made sure they were still there and I was like, dude, sell this and he said, you go away.

What is that? and finally I was like, you know, I talked him into it. I was like, look, you got nothing to lose. I’ll frenchie all the product, if you don’t sell it. It was all natural, all legal and that was one of the reasons why you know, at the end of the day the government was so frustrated with me. I mean the President took actions against me at the time. They’re like, well, then we’ll get the FDA on him and the FDA was like, yeah, it’s a supplement sort of. It’s not a vitamin, it’s not not a vitamin. They didn’t know what to do. I didn’t fit into any mold.

We had created an entire new niche, not only that we were selling in the most unconventional of places. Sure we got into GNC and 7-11 and I was in 30,000 doors by the time I was 18 years old. 30,000 stores were selling our stuff not including the franchises that each had five ten thousand stores, those kinds of things. But we were also selling through unconventional places. We were selling through adult stores. Larry Flint called me to his office many times. He was selling us at his Hustler stores.

We were sold in all the places that sold Playboy and Hustler and Penthouse, all those places not only that, we were sold in record stores, when the CD business started go down because of Napster and Ipods coming out and all that stuff. These stores were dying, tower records was dying and we kept them afloat. People were coming into the store to buy herbal ecstasy. We were keeping the new age bookstores afloat. They were all selling herbal ecstasy. Everybody was selling herbal ecstasy. All the stores on Melrose had ashbury, you know. We had I had my own stores that we franchised, so you would see these neon ecstasy signs all over the place. We had a flagship store on Melrose. That was a store that just sold legal psychedelics and legal drugs and books on psychedelics and we had lectures and it was an insane time.

This is before any of the social stuff that we have these days and he would say, you take me to jail and they would take him to jail. He sued them in pro per, which means on his own, without an attorney, all the way to the supreme court and he won and this guy was like, he was he he wasn’t like, he was an urban shaman and he had had some transformative experiences. I think he had done some LSD in the 1960s. He had studied all types of different philosophies. So he was really a deep, he was a realized human being.

So there’s a lot of opportunities on Amazon and I feel one of the strongest ones is Amazon seller central. Bezos sometime in 2008 2009 around there, opened up the platform to third-party sellers. What’s that mean? Well, most people think when you buy something on Amazon, you’re buying it from Amazon. Wrong. There are over five million third-party seller – mom and pops to big corporations, people like me and you that have products or sell other people’s products through their own seller account. They pay Amazon a commission for being able to sell it in their store but it’s almost a cosignment philosophy and Amazon will pick pack and ship that product using their FBA, their fulfillment by Amazon.

The most advanced warehouses ever known to humanity for fulfillment of product from getting product from point A to point Z, which is you, hence the Amazon logo – the little smile that goes from the a to the z and you can do that. You can start an amazon business. Most people don’t know this and what we encourage people to do is to create products that bring value but to not innovate. Innovation being the kiss of death. You leave innovation to the big companies – to the apples and the amazons and those companies of the world and you focus on researching the market and telling a better story, finding where the vulnerabilities are in the market and capitalizing on those niches. So we niche things down, break it down as much as possible.

We find that blue ocean, where it’s not over saturated but there’s a vulnerability maybe the competitors aren’t describing their product enough, maybe they don’t have enough influencers involved, maybe they don’t have an authority involved, maybe they don’t have social proof reviews and or maybe their product just sucks and you can get a better one or maybe it’s not bad but they don’t describe it well enough, they don’t tell you about all the features and value that it brings and maybe it has low value. So we find that leverage point where we could put just three grams of pressure and get out 300 ounces of pressure and that’s what we do.

But every once in a while every occasion when we get a ridiculous customer, somebody who is absolutely ridiculous, I will personally call them up myself and they are always shocked that the president of the company is on the phone and not only will I get them on the phone myself, I will let them know how silly they are being in a very polite way. This goes against everything in customer service and then I will sell them something else. I will make it a point not to leave the phone call without having sold them something and it always leaves a great experience, a great story that they’re going to tell people and you know I don’t do this with reasonable customers.

So if you get a product that’s bad or you have a bad service experience or there’s an employee that maybe treated you unfairly, then of course we just refund your money and we take care of you the best that we can, always. But occasionally you will get somebody who’s being unreasonable and the best way to approach somebody who’s being unreasonable is to confront them with their unreasonableness and to just call them up and and have a real adult conversation.
